Events In Retrospect

Study Circle Committee

1. A Study Circle Meeting on 'Revised Audit Format and Overview of AS-16, 17, 20 and 22' was held on 21st June 2002.Young member of our association Shri Miral Nagda led the meeting and Shri Parag Ved C.A. chaired the meeting. 45 participants attended the meeting.

Various issues relating to AS-16, 17, 20 and 22 were discussed and debated. The group was of the opinion that following of these standards in case of non-corporate entities and small private limited companies will be very difficult.

The chairman clarified that the auditor is otherwise also required to follow the Accounting Standards and Statements on Auditing Practices and therefore the revised format is only clarificatory. The meeting was concluded with vote of thanks to the group leader and chairman.

2. Study Circle Meeting on 'Recent Amendments to Central Sales Tax, 1956' was held on Friday 12th July 2002. Shri Nitin Kenia, C.A. led the meeting and Shri Janak Vaghani, C.A. chaired the meeting. Around 25 members attended the meeting.

The group leader explained in detail the recent amendments carried out through the Budget, particularly the amendments in the definition of 'sale' and amendments relating to the 'C' forms. He also provided the comparative analysis of tax structure before and after the amendments.

The chairman explained the future implications of the amendments and satisfactorily replied to the questions raised by the members. Meeting ended with vote of thanks to the group leader and chairman.

Annual planner 2002-2003

The Annual Planner for the period July, 2002 to June, 2003 was recently released. 1500 copies were printed. The Planner has proved to be very useful to all the users as it lists various statutory due dates in each month.
