Events In Retrospect

Professional Development & Representation Committee

The Committee organised an interactive study course Non Residential Refresher Course (NRRC) on Company Law on Friday, Saturday and Monday - 22nd, 23rd, and 25th March 2002 at Amarsons Hall, K.V.O.STH Jain Mahajanwadi, Chinchpokli, Mumbai. In all 64 persons including 11 non-members enrolled for the course.

The extensive papers covering practical issues were prepared by all the paper writers on their topics. These papers alongwith other relevant & useful material gathered/compiled by the Committee on various topics were distributed to the participants in advance. The paper book containing all these materials including Brain Trust questions was well appreciated by all the participants not only as good course material but also as useful reference material for future practical use.

All the group leaders effectively led their groups to useful analysis and fruitful churning of the topics. The interactive sessions provided an opportunity to every participant to express their views. The learned paper writers gave their views and replied all the questions raised in the paper and during the group discussions. The Brain Trust session was excellent and most attentive.

Study Circle Committee

1) A Study Circle meeting was organized on 28th March 2002 at Association's office on the topic of "BANK BRANCH AUDIT". Group Leader was Shri Ketan Saiya, C.A. It was chaired by Shri Vipul Chokshi, chairman of W.I.R.C. and it was well attended by 45 participants.

Shri Ketan Saiya discussed various issues relating to Branch audit, which are relevant to us in bank branch audit. The chairman shared his practical experience & the expertise on the subject. Active participation by members made the study circle meeting very lively.

The meeting ended with a well deserved vote of thanks.

2) A Study Circle meeting on "TDS SOME ISSUES" was held on 26th April 2002 at the Association's office. Shri Rakesh Vora, C.A. was the group leader and Shri A.R. Krishnan, C.A. chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by 24 participants.

The group leader discussed the various issues arising out of the Finance Bill, 2002. The Chairman an expert on the subject had given an excellent technical analysis & review on the above matter. The members present were benefited from his in-depth study & review.

Active participation by members made the meeting very lively and vibrant. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks.

3) A Study Circle meeting was organized on 17th May 2002 at Association's office on the topic of "SALES TAX Provisions in State BUDGET". Shri Bharat Gosar,C.A. was the group leader and the meeting was chaired by Shri Deepak Thakkar [C.A.] The meeting was attended by 30 participants.

The group leader discussed various issues arising out of the State Budget 2002. The Chairman enlightened the participants on the above topic. Members present were benefited from their sharing of the knowledge on the subject.

Active participation by members made the meeting very lively. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks.
