04 April 2018 |
A honey badger, an endangered species, was manhandled by a group of villagers who even recorded the torture on their cellphones before circulating it. The video has gone viral now, prompting the forest department to hunt for the accused. The animal, protected under schedule-1 of Wildlife Protection Act, seems to have strolled into Batiyari village adjoining a forest in Kutch.

After animal activists shared the video in social media groups, the forest department learnt of the incident and intensified their search for the culprits. Talking about the incident, Deputy Conservator of Forests B J Asari said.We received a video where villagers were seen manhandling the protected species in their village.
