| On International Women’s Day…Kutch women seek water, education instead of silver |

The Kutch District administration is going to celebrate the birth of girl children born on international women's day by playing celebratory music and gifting silver coin. But what about the girl children who are forced to abandon their education so that they can help their mothers fetch water or the women who walk to faraway places to get 2 bedas of water for their family?
The women from nearly 50 villages in the district plead with the administration to help them get basic necessities like water and education instead of distributing silver.What use is the silver coin and music when we don't have water to drink,asks a woman who lives in one of the fifty villages in the district that is facing sever water shortage. The women folk in these villages both young and old are forced to travel several kilometres, sometimes in the middle of the night, for just two bedas of water.
