Visiting the Rann of Kutch during the monsoon–it couldn’t get better
28 August 2018
If your idea of the ideal monsoon getaway comprises visiting the usual touristy places, make sure you bookmark this unfailing landmark immediately. The sprawling Rann of Kutch is a white desert, which formed a portion of the Arabian Sea earlier. Due to the topographical changes, the sea got separated from the land, and that is how the white desert got an identity of its own.
One of the best seasons to visit

The Rann of Kutch could get hot in summers, but the monsoon season is not only the saving grace but renders the destination delightful to behold! Due to the rains, the white desert appears like a magnificent diamond. Apparently, watching sunrise and sunsets during monsoons might not be possible on certain cloudy days, but the expansive salt-filled land filled with rain water would be the star attraction on such days.
Get more of Kutch at Kalo Dungar
And while, you may be technically in the Rann of Kutch region, the beauty of Kalo Dungar region located nearby is no less alluring. It is the highest point in Kutch, from where the region looks just breathtaking. However, beware of driving up the hill during monsoon as the path turns slippery and muddy.

Explore Dholavira

Another unmissable attraction in the Kutch region is Dholavira, a sort of island, known for its wildlife. For bird watchers, the town of Mandvi is a source of delight, especially during the monsoon when several species of avifaunal creatures migrate to enjoy the season. Mandvi's affinity to Bhuj and the presence of several resorts nearby with beach access makes this town a worthy spot for visit during the monsoon.
